Privacy Policy
Live Cameras shows public webcams and traffic cameras on a map. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. In short: the app has no accounts and never asks for your name, email or contacts. Your location stays on your device. The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers only as described below and only with your permission where the law or your device requires it.
1. Data processed only on your device
- Your location. Only if you allow it, and only to move the map to where you are when you tap My location (or on launch once you have allowed it). Your coordinates are never stored or sent to us or anyone else.
- Photos. If you are a Pro user and choose to save a snapshot or timelapse, the app adds that image or video to your photo library. It cannot read your existing photos.
- Your settings and a cached copy of your Pro purchase status are stored in the app's private storage.
2. Loading cameras and maps
To show cameras, the app sends the map area you are looking at (a rectangle of coordinates, not your location) to our server, which returns the cameras in that area. Camera images and videos are then loaded from their publishers (for example Windy.com, Caltrans, Transport for London and the Singapore Land Transport Authority), and map tiles from OpenStreetMap. Like any website, these servers receive your IP address and basic request information when your device downloads content from them. We use this information only to deliver the content and keep the service running, never to identify you or build profiles.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Free users see a banner and occasional full-screen ads served by Google AdMob. To serve, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect your IP address (used for approximate location), device and app information, ad interactions and, only if you allow it, your device's advertising identifier.
- iPhone and iPad: the app asks for permission to track (App Tracking Transparency). If you choose Ask App Not to Track, the advertising identifier is not shared and ads are less relevant. You can change this any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads.
- EEA, UK, Switzerland and US states with privacy laws: the app shows Google's consent message before ads are personalized. You can change your choices any time from the app's menu (⋮ → Privacy settings).
Buying Pro removes all ads; the app then no longer requests ads from AdMob.
4. Anonymous usage statistics (Firebase Analytics)
To learn which features are used, the app uses Google Firebase Analytics. It sends app events (for example a camera opened and its source, a filter changed, an ad shown, the Pro screen viewed or a purchase completed or restored) together with information Firebase collects automatically: a random app-instance ID, device model, OS version, app version, language, approximate country/region and session information. It is not used to identify you, never contains your name, email or location, and is kept by Google for at most 14 months.
5. App configuration (Firebase Remote Config)
The app downloads configuration values (for example how often ads may appear) from Firebase Remote Config, which uses a random installation ID and basic device and app information.
6. Purchases
The optional one-time Pro unlock is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google; the app never sees your payment details. It only receives the purchase status, which it uses to unlock Pro and to restore it on your other devices.
7. Permissions
- Location (while using the app): to center the map on you (optional).
- Photos (add only): to save snapshots and timelapses you choose to download.
- Tracking (iOS): to allow more relevant ads (optional).
- Internet: to load cameras, maps, ads, analytics and configuration.
8. Sharing
We do not sell your data. Data is shared only with the service providers named above (Google AdMob and Firebase, Apple or Google for purchases, and the camera and map publishers that serve the content you view), always over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
9. Deleting your data
- Uninstalling the app deletes everything stored on your device.
- Deny or revoke the tracking permission and reset your advertising identifier at any time as described in section 3.
- Because we do not collect your identity, we cannot look up data by name or email, but you can contact us with any request (see below).
10. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
